OLD BUSINESS: Corrections workshop money = $100. Tabled ‘kits needed’ until December. NEW BUSINESS: Attendance and Literature sign-in sheet, 10 prerelease contact forms, $545 in treasury, collection of district meeting list, Web: Districts 2, 16 and 20. State Jail Sale distributed to three prisons. Literature $800 distributed to 7 districts, 12 attended from 10 districts.

  • Discussed Jail Sale at State Conventions. Sandy E. picked up all the literature and she will set it up at the conference on Friday. Hours for the jail sale are on the sign-up sheet, which was circulated at the meeting.
  • Treasurer’s Report (Lori). Previous balance $389, new total $522. The assembly has given $800 to be distributed among the present districts at $88.88 each.
  • State-Wide Corrections Committee needs schedules of all the jail meetings in Area 32. Please include a name and a contact name. The information will be compiled into Word doc and sent to Statewide.

Eight in attendance representing 7 districts. Treasury = $522. Confirmed that Sandy is covering the Jail Sale at the August 2014 convention. For new business discussed Attendance and Literature sign-in sheet; received 2 requests from District 16 St. Louis prison for meeting support and 2 cases of big books and 12/12; a statewide request for list of meetings that each district supports.

Eight districts shared in the Corrections Literature Fund. We received two pre-release requests: Jackson and Roscommon. Treasurer reported $522.00. Two corrections kits given out. Sandy will run jail-sale at state convention as I am unable to attend. Lori is covering the state-wide meeting.

Statewide Corrections Workshop moved from Oct 19th to November 9th 2013. Statewide Corrections presence will be at MYCPAA. District 4 workshop scheduled for February 8, 2014. Discussed tri-fold information board for area meetings. Discussed workshop to possibly include: Volunteer forms, Do’s & Don’ts with court system forms, make it Velcro or adjustable, ask Kenny K. about his board. One kit and 1 workbook for Lori. Literature $800/9 = $88.00.

Reported as follows. Twelve in attendance. Discussed corrections workshop on October 19 @ 10a-2p at Royal Oak Genesis Church (11 mile and Main Street). Discussed thank you notes to those who contribute to jail pail. Treasurer reported $446 balance. Literature distribution is a problem in Huron Valley Women’s Facility. Literature committee contributed $800 across (6) districts for $133 each. New attendee Theresa from District 6. Bay county jail administrator and AA liaison working well.

Fourteen in attendance. Ten districts received $80 each for corrections literature funding. Statewide corrections meeting minutes passed out. GSO corrections communications gave to Mac. Grapevine cases order 3-4. Treasurer reported $410 + $22 = $432. Report on Colorado AA corrections workshop. No kits requested.

Prerelease contact request for Carson City. Sandy will get to area 34. The hat was passed for additional contributions for a new total of $410. Discussed finance committee report. Reviewed new literature sign in sheet with attendee count added. Discussed how to get and keep literature inside the walls

Twenty-five books from the jail sale were sent to Gus Harrison prison; more were requested. New prelease form and map to be sent directly to Royal Oak instead of GSO through Statewide meeting. Eleven of 14 districts were represented at meeting. 20 attendees. Corrections committee to report out full count of people helped. Five corrections kits and 10 worko\books for new incoming corrections members.

The Gus H. jail sale was a success: 25 books to Gus H., 5 to Isabella County Women's. Committee voted to: send $140.00 to Statewide Corrections, purchase 5 corrections kits, 10 workbooks from Literature, and keep $100.00 prudent reserve.

Elections were held for 2013-2015 Corrections Committee and results are: Chair: Pete B. (District 18), Treasurer: Lori D. (District 12), and Secretary: Sandy E. (District 4).

Discussion was on corrections workshops and possibilities for gaining professional participation in further workshops. Planning for a jail sale at MCYPAA – contact will be made. Literature from statewide jail sale will go to Jackson facilities. Pre-release information will be sent via email rather than snail mail.

From the Statewide Corrections Workshop, each Area received about 10 pieces of literature; in Area 32 all of them went to Jackson Prison. Contributions from the jail sale at the Al-Anon Convention went there as well. The committee will consider annual jail sales at annual conventions like MCYPAA and Al-Anon. Literature exchanges occur between districts also.

The Statewide Corrections Committee will present an event Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant called "Carrying the message of recovery behind walls." There will be a Jail Sale at the Alanon Convention May 18-20, 2012. Proceeds go to the Jackson Correctional Facility. Discussion took place regarding singleness of purpose. Committee's treasury funds are $528.00. This committee asks the CMIA32 Host Districts to clarify in which room the Corrections Committee meetings are held.

The Statewide Corrections Committee will present an event Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant called "Carrying the message of recovery behind walls." Our committee donated $100.00 from the Jail Sale to the event. Also, there will be a Jail Sale at the Alanon Convention May 18-20, 2012, which is in Bay City. District 10 donated $80.00 to the Jackson Correctional Facility. Committee's treasury funds are $519.00.

The State Convention jail sale was a success - thanks to Pete, Lyle, Linda, and Joyce; literature from it was divided equally among districts.

Current preparations for State Convention include: jail sale, display tables, and selection of panelists. Four pre-releases were distributed; 2 remain for districts not in attendance. Thanks to Doug K. and Ray H. for Grapevines for the jails; the magazines have been well received.

The missing treasury money was found and totals $484.00; the new treasurer is Pete B. Ten cases of old Grapevines have been ordered at a discount for inmates. Kits were dispersed to members, suggestions were made about how to get AA material into county jails, and another statewide committee meeting will be at State Convention.
