There were nine attendees from Districts 4,6,8,12, and 26. Topics discussed were: A. The calendar of events on the website - No action taken at this time; B. Possible online registration for State Convention - No action taken at this time; C. Different types of AA meeting schedules on sites. - No action taken; D. Michigan State Convention posting on CMIA website. - Discussion, Motion by Chelsea from Dist 8 to post State Convention on site, 2nd by Donald from Dist 8, discussion, motion passed; E. Guidelines for websites discussed (Linking to other sites) Group agreed that links must be to AA sponsored functions and events.

  • Statewide Chair Dennis S. asked about a link to Statewide Service Committee with a way to contact Statewide Chair, on the website. After discussion, Theron will do this.
  • A motion was made to have a web portal for the Archives Committee on the website showing some history as well as a list of Archives material available. Actual access would be via password protected link (Password to be a temporary one). This motion passed.
  • Other Committees should contact the Website Committee or webmaster if they would like more material added to the website relating to their Committees.
  • We are proceeding, as a group, thru the A.A Guidelines for internet, from GSO. We discussed non AA links on AA websites. Copyright issues on AA material on websites. Webmasters duties and the need for an alternate webmaster.
  • Theron will be willing to hold training for prospective webmasters and alternates. See the Committee on this issue.

Four people attended. We had one District webmaster and one person who is not familiar with online activities at all. Discussed were anonymity online, the value of meeting lists and "Hot Lines". Also discussed was what can be posted online on an AA web site and what should not be posted, as well as jhow to contact our webmaster and webmasters of District sites. A goal of covering the guidelines for web sites was set and copies will be brought to the next meetings.

There were 7 in attendance. We discussed the outgoing and incoming committee chairs, Kim K. and Ted S. respectively. Also we discussed the Intergroup Liaison committee information to be posted on the website. There will be a committee page for the Liaison Committee and then another dedicated page to Intergroups, Central Offices and Unity Councils on the website; this page lists what they are and what ones are located in our area. "It has been a pleasure serving the assembly as your Website Committee Chair the last year and few months. Thank you for the opportunity and I hope to continue to serve the area in some capacity."

The six members in attendance discussed the creation of an independent web page within the website dedicated to Inter-groups, Central Offices and Unity Councils in CMIA 32. The Website Committee will work with the newly-formed Liaison Committee for the content and links to be included on this page. Two members of District 12 spoke with Theron B. regarding options to make a more user friendly website.

The four members in attendance discussed and approved adding a link to to the CMIA 32 home page under "Service Links." They talked at length about anonymity on Facebook. Each one is going to check with their districts to ensure they aren’t using last names online. The Area Committee is going to let other Committee chair persons know of new sections on the Area website that can include announcements, committee information, etc. FYI: easier-to-use website formats like Joomla or Wordpress are more easily hacked than secure https:// sites.

Ten members in attendance discussed: password protecting certain sections of the Area website and possible effects; building out pages for each committee on to hold minutes from past assemblies; and the approaching vacancy of Committee Chairpersonship. (Web Committee Chair supports the Area Webmaster, which is a non-rotating position.) A Website Workshop at the state-wide level would allow exchange of ideas and information with the other Areas’ Chairs and Webmasters.

Five people were in attendance. Theron B. gave a brief report on his visit to the Flint Unity Council last month to assist their new Webmaster. The committee would like to point out that they are available anytime, not just at Area 32 assemblies, through email to New MCYPAA events will be posted in the upcoming weeks on Discussion also took place about posting district meeting minutes & treasurer’s reports online, this is appropriate according to A.A. Internet Guidelines. Lastly, CMIA32 will host documents for districts in need of that assistance.

Contact info for the Area Archivist will be posted on for AA’s researching meeting group or district history. The Area Literature Committee will receive more of a presence on the home page of the Area Website; there is a shipping, but not a handling fee for ordering material through the Area. To abide by AA Traditions, does not post AA events that include a fee to attend. An exception is the posting of conventions. A committee vote decided the inclusion of New Year’s Eve events for 2011 also. Voting will ensue for future, similar events. Email or visit the committee meeting in February for guidance on district web pages.

At the suggestion of Panel 61, Area 32 Delegate Art M., the committee discussed revision of the The creation of individual pages for each committee was discussed with the purpose of attracting AA members to service opportunities. The committee also discussed the option of a CMIA 32 newsletter. Our priorities are to update the Area website, to help districts with their websites, and to design the message the Area Website Committee would like represented at the GSC. The Website Committee has a display board which was used at the 59th MI State Convention. For further info, please view the site or a committee member.

Internet Guidelines would be a helpful tool at the committee’s 60th State Convention table; the nomination of Website Committee Secretary was tabled until October’s meeting.

Three members present discussed: assistance for District 16 in getting a new Webmaster trained and the website updated; use of social media and how anonymity can be preserved (suggestion: GSO guidelines on web usage be posted on; creating a private Facebook page for district Webmasters to facilitate ideas and information.
